Conceptual Designs of the planned 15 storey govt building at Savalalo

Apia will be making a tilt at being the most modern city in the Pacific Islands region.

Cabinet on Wednesday approved two major infrastructural developments that are expected to begin next year.

The first is a 15-storey government building at Savalalo where the flea market is currently located. When that building is completed, government offices at Eleele Fou will move there and the FMFM II building will be stripped down and turned into a five-star hotel.

According to Prime Minister Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi, the center of the capital will shift to Savalalo where the new government building will be located.

“That building will complete the cycle of housing all government departments in a centralized location. It is an investment for the future.�?

The projects will be built through the continuing development cooperation between the governments of Samoa and China. Prime Minister Tuilaepa said negotiations will begin early next year.

Malo Fou

IF tourism is going to be our main economy, then we better listen to them. IF you poll every tourists coming into our shores, I believe the MAJORITY will want Samoa as is . They prefer the culture and the natural look of Samoa .They prefer smaller resorts that are local owners,and located closer to villages.
They do not want to see the same old thing they are running away from. Besides that. Why is the government getting into resort business? Why are they competing with the private business? IF they start loosing money, which they will . How are they going to fund it unless they borrow. IF they borrow like they are right now , guess who is stuck with the bill. The saying goes. EVERYTHING THAT GLITTERS IS NOT GOLD!!! God Bless Samoa
